Chicks Week 4: Field Trip and Bugs

This week we did quite a lot of house cleaning. I am trying to get caught up after 3 weeks of being sick. It was very exciting for the kiddos because every time we found a bug (other than ants), we caught it in a jar and gave it to the chicks. Even one large cricket -- the chicks devoured them all. Instinct is such an amazing thing. They just went for it without ever having been shown what to do.

The chicks also went outside to graze for the first time yesterday. We used a play yard to keep them a safe and contained.

Holding them every day is starting to make them more tame. Now when I try to take pictures of them they come over and peck at the camera. Here they are pecking my lens:

Looking more and more like awkward teenagers -- feathers coming out all over the place.
