Boat ride and hiking on the Ile de Brehat

On Friday we took a ferry out to the Ile de Brehat.

We did a lot of hiking around on the island about 4-7 miles, depending on whose step counter you measure by.
There were a lot of beautiful little farms and cottages. Many were walled. I loved this garden gateway -- like the Secret Garden's entrance.  The island has its own school for K-6 and then they have to take the ferry every day for people who live there and go on to middle and high school.
We let the kids select our picnic spot.
We brought sack lunches for a picnic

Trying to get serious for our photo...
Looking around in tidal pools and collecting shells with my bestie. A lovely day.

Lots of cousins came along for this adventure.
I thought this was a good looking herd of cows.
 Lots of hiking.
We started making our way toward this lighthouse.

The view from the top of the lighthouse was excellent. The cousins were trying to peek in the window.
This is the view looking back down the path from the top at those still coming up.

Views looking out to sea from the top of the lighthouse.

I saw a lot of wattle fences and other garden ideas that I loved.
Of all the cute little houses and cottages -- this was my favorite. The gardens were beautiful and so many chimneys, looks cozy warm and snug.
Riding the ferry on the way home and having a nice chat about our day.
