Christmas Crafters: Gingerbread Houses and Popsicle Nativity

A theme for this new baby year has been the answer, "Sure, you know how to do that." If the kids want to do a big project that requires a lot of adult help well... that's not likely to fit in with the busy-ness of our new baby life. But, if they can do it largely or entirely themselves? Yes! "Sure, you know how to do that." And so it was that we had a gingerbread house making party led by big sister A. She made the dough from scratch, all by herself.
They cut out the house shapes using a pattern that they found all by themselves on Pinterest.
She made her own frosting/glue from scratch all by herself.
Bagged. Piped. And put together the pieces all by themselves... Minus one tense moment with the roof that luckily Daddy was able to come to the rescue on.
And decorating with candy! Oh my they were pleased to do that -- all by themselves. Rewarding themselves liberally as they went along.

Brother M was the architect of the smaller house.
Our church sisters hosted a nativity making party on zoom. And big sister A did a great job following the instructions and making that as well.
