Family Schooling: Art and Bones

We finished the Kingdoms and Classifications unit and decided to take a break from science and focus on art.  We learned about Grant Wood:

Some very colorful versions of American Gothic:
We also did the Meet the Masters unit on Cezanne:
The project that went with it was a still life.
Brother S scowled at the prescribed project. He refused to use any fruit.
He began making his own design with tissue paper shapes and warm/cool colors contrasting... And all his own style!

We made it 11 years without having any broken bones. Big sister A came home from her BSA campout with an injured arm last Saturday.  She was doing back walk overs and came down too fast.  I thought it might be a hairline fracture like I had from a similar fall when I was a kid.  I had a brace just like this:

We took her in and had it x-rayed. It turned out to be a buckle fracture:

So she came home with a real high tech (waterproof!) cast.  At least she can still swim and shower.
