Family Schooling Summary

This week we worked like beavers. The kiddos literally were busy digging in the dirt trying to make a beaver dam at the end of the driveway. Then they tested it by turning on the hose... And inevitably ended up playing in the mud.

They picked up the storage pod on Thursday so we are almost ready for the new driveway installation.

We had a party with the Francophone African sisters from church. The kiddos have a hard time with the food they serve (like fish with the bones in), but I still think it is a good cultural experience for them.

Baby L is up on all fours now. She is rocking and lunging forward trying to figure out how to crawl. She also has a rash on her neck from drooling so much.

Valerie came to hang out with us and we wrangled her into working on some kid crafts with us.

Last week my lovely friend gave us this book of kid friendly craft projects.  My kiddos want to do crafts constantly, so we have been testing out a couple of the ideas already.
Big sister A and Val made this cardboard brownstone dollhouse. We are still working on "wallpapering" the interior.

Brother M and I made this truck:

We had a big barbecue party on Sunday with some friends of hubby's visiting from Boise. They have 5 kids, plus 4 Elders joined us for dinner, so it was pretty wild. Then on Monday we went to watch their daughter at UMD in the National History Day competition for best documentary.  She had already won for Idaho, so she got to come the National event here in D.C.

After the competition we took them on a tour of the National Zoo. Even though we were just there last week, there is always so much to see. We went in the indoor elephant arena this time:

We visited the reptile house and saw the big scaries:

And of course baby S's favorite baby light blue climbing tree frogs:

Here are some more picture of Baby L getting her crawl on today. She has had a few rough tumbles over onto her side from her new heights.
